I have been a music lover my entire life. Live music is my happy place. My apartment is decked out with framed images of my favorite live music venues, along with some concert posters. My smallest, but most cherished is of Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO. It’s been on my bucket list for the last 8 years and I’ve waited for the perfect time and band to go visit. Well, the stars aligned and on August 9th I had the chance to visit Red Rocks. My long-time friend, Todd Laningham, plays lead guitar for Wade Bowen. Wade Bowen and Randy Rogers Band were scheduled to open for Miranda Lambert’s Highway Vagabond Tour and it was a no-brainer.
What better time to go to Red Rocks than to see my good friend Todd Laningham and favorite Texas artists Wade Bowen and Randy Rogers Band play! The ultimate bonus was seeing Miranda Lambert’s outstanding performance at that incredible venue.
We decided to go check out the venue the morning before the concert and take some pics and spend some time taking it all in. I will never forget coming around the bend up to the venue and seeing the infamous Ship Rock and Creation Rock. Ladies and gentlemen, it was everything I had imagined it to be and more! It lives up to the hype and reputation of being one of the greatest music venues on this planet.
The weather was perfect for the concert, the seats filled quickly and we soaked up every minute of the experience. Wade and Randy killed it (as always in my opinion). As Wade started singing West Texas Rain, the sky opened and let out a few showers right on cue. I kid you not, when I say it was the perfect evening. Miranda was unlike many artists I’ve seen live, you can tell she is pouring every ounce of her being into the performance and leaves it all on stage. Her concert was unreal. Post-concert, Allie Sisoian, Todd’s better half and owner of River Road Ice House in New Braunfels and all around bad ass, gave us the VIP treatment escorting us side stage and meeting up with the band. Allie made sure we got the FULL Red Rocks experience. At 1 AM it was time for the buses to roll out and for us to head home.
Once home, I thought I must create something for that Trading Post Merchandise store. So, we are currently pitching the below items (that we personally think kick some serious ass) and we can’t wait to hear back from their team! Stay tuned...
